Database Audit Software at the Field Level
Ensuring the integrity of organizational data requires a means of monitoring changes in the database. Such a database audit trail should include information about who made the change, when, how and where it was done, and the actual information added, changed or deleted. Monitoring of SQL statements is one approach incorporated in the Bsafe/Cross Platform Audit data security software product. The network audit software feature described here, however, is all about the data itself, not the coding that brought about the change. This is the Central Data Repository that forms the heart of the Bsafe Cross Platform database audit tool. The example below shows how transactions from a common user different on different computers from different platforms can be viewed in a single shot.

Database Audit for Multiple Platforms
The Bsafe/Cross Platform Audit database audit software allows monitoring and capture of database events from different computers on your network. Platforms supported are: SQL Server, IBM mainframe and iSeries / AS400. The audit events are imported to the Central Data Repository, a consolidated repository of database audit information.

There, you can view database changes at the field level through the Bsafe/Enterprise Security Manager GUI interface. The data change events listed can be filtered by a combination of crucial event characteristics including date, time, user, database, table, client IP address, global user, platform and database event type including record insertions, deletions and changes.

One of the most powerful aspects of this software tool is its drill-down view. Double-clicking displays not just the event details - when and where and by whom the action was made - but also the field values in the record that has been inserted, changed or deleted. The example below shows a mainframe record deletion event.

Update operations show two images of the logged database record - before and after the change, with any changed fields being color-coded. See iSeries file update event below.

Database Auditing is Compliance Too!
Compliance demands, such as those found in PCI, SOX and HIPAA, welcome network auditing tools and particularly database auditing software The Bsafe/CPA auditor toolbox assists in meeting some of those demands, providing many rich and auditor-friendly functions.
